Artist’s Statement

I wanted to talk about the concept of making something from nothing. I like to use materials that are recycled or upcycled as much as possible, and in my work I also prefer to work with natural materials like wool, cotton, silk flowers and dried flowers, glass, wire, plaster, clay, and wood.

I am trying my best to eliminate artificial materials and waste as much as possible. I enjoy the challenge of having to forage or find my materials that I’m going to work with, and I also feel that it adds a certain aesthetic to my work. The fabrics I use are often worn, distressed, or shrunk. The colours may have been faded.
